I am an artist from Bristol and I have been drawing and painting ever since I could hold a paintbrush or pencil.

I studied Art, Design and Illustration at Brunel College of Art in Bristol after leaving school, and then had a break from visual arts and studied creative advertising and marketing at Falmouth College in Cornwall, before realising that art my real passion and began to sell my work professionally from 2003 onwards.

My work is contemporary and abstract and is inspired by surroundings, moods and experiences. I am influenced by artists such as Jackson Pollock and M C Escher, as well as pop/modern art and graffiti and street art culture, and base the ideas of my artwork around anything from landscapes to science fiction or music and films or even dreams I have!....also anything I encounter in daily life inspires my work.

To produce my work I use acrylics, oils, enamel paints and spray paint, I experiment with colours and textures to create unique abstract pieces. The finished products are highly detailed, energetic pieces of artwork which demand a closer look. I often use inks to add intricate details to the work.

I create detailed illustrations using inks and pencil, creating surreal, intense black and white images, inspired by Zentangle Art and I have hundreds of available illustrations for sale.

I also produce artwork based on the surroundings of my home town "Bristol" and have produced many pieces featuring scenes from the industrial and architectural beauty of the city as well as abandoned graffiti covered buildings in areas like Stokes Croft.

I regularly hold exhibitions of my work, and my work is available to buy direct from this site as originals or limited edition prints. For updated news on events and exhibitions, or to see information on past exhibitions check out the exhibitions page or my Blog and News pages for more regular updates and work in progress.

I have sold hundreds of paintings since 2003, both privately and through art galleries and my work is in private collections in the UK and overseas. I continue to produce artwork regularly and accept commissions, as well as always looking for new places to exhibit my work.

I have a large variety of work for sale, from small paintings to one off original illustrations, or signed prints, ready to be framed - my work suits all tastes and budgets.

Artwork can be created to suit your needs, offering almost any size option and work can be customised to an individual level, creating a unique one off piece.

Influences

I am influenced by the American abstract artist Jackson Pollock and after seeing his work up close on a trip to New York City in 2005, it has inspired my current work to a great degree, paying homage to his work.

I love the effect of splattering of paint which he used on his paintings as well as the randomness and fluidity of his work, which has inspired some of my paintings.

Unlike Jackson, who used this technique to cover the whole canvas, I drip and splash paint on certain areas of a painting creating a focal point or a pointer to lead the viewer to details areas.

M C Escher is also one of my favourite artists, and I am fascinated by his illustrations of impossible structures and scenes which seem to defy the laws of physics, as well as his intense pencil and engraving work and repeating patterns.

I am also influenced by graffiti and street art culture, and coming from Bristol, the UK capital of Street Art, I am surrounded by the influence (and work) of street artist's such as BANKSY, Nick Walker, Inkie and Cheo as well as many others. I often take a walk to St Werburgh's railway tunnel to check out the new artwork, which seems to be replaced on a weekly basis.
